Testing in mobile devices

Intelligent mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) are becoming an essential part of our everyday life. For this reason, new applications are constantly appearing, with a wide array of functionalities and purposes, including mobile versions of already existing web applications.

Besides possible functionality issues stemming from development or a bad understanding of the requisites, these applications can have compatibility errors due to the diversity in operating systems and versions.

What does Globe bring to the table?

In Globe we carry out both functional and technical testing, in order to verify that the developed apps work correctly with every kind of device. These tests guarantee compliance with the demanding quality standards of the market.

For this, we classify our testing in two types:

  • Manual: these tests are carried out directly on the device by the tester.
  • Automated: we program a series of cases that are executed, in order to shorten times and rule out human errors.

Amongst the tests carried out at Globe for mobile devices, these are the main ones:

  • Static analysis.
  • Dynamic analysis.
  • Analysis of log files.
  • Analysis of external communications.
  • Analysis of the handling of files, memory and network
  • Study of the protective structure for data storage

For the tests themselves, Globe has both specific software and hardware tools: the most widespread devices, with several OS, emulators, simulators, and tools to automate the testing.

Why testing?

They guarantee the proper operation of mobile applications in every kind of device and OS, in order to help our clients and applications to be better accepted by users. Acceptance times in several stores are also cut short:

  • AppStore
  • Android Market
  • Microsoft Marketplace

This reduction in acceptance times cuts down waiting times and reprogramming as well, which saves in turn money.
